Virgle: passes the SNIFF test?

Here is a nice article about the Virgle hoax (or is it?) by Google and Virgin. On this blog they explain that hoaxes are a great way to teach children to use their imagination AND learn about what is real and what is fake in life. Including a tutorial on how to become a SNIFF expert by doing the SNIFF test:

S ounds too good (dumb, sweet, exciting, scary) to be true? It probably is.
N ever heard anything like it? Then wonder why.
I mages look enhanced? Well, they might be. Or totally fake.
F eeling titillated, weird, or otherwise manipulated? Watch out!
F inding no corroborating evidence? Then something stinks.

Smells funny? Then it might very well be a hoax…

that’s lovely, dear. Just be sure to ring me, right?

Check out this post at the ‘Virgle Pioneer’, a weblog about the Virgle project. It is a story abut one mans dreams about the intergalactic highways and his challenges in sharing his dreams with his family.

Or something like that…

Welcome to Virgle.com

This is a blog about the Virgin/Google project named Virgle. We were lucky enough to acquire the domain a few months ago from a domain broker for a few hundred bucks when it was announced by Richard Branson in an interview. He jokingly referred to his pet project as ‘Project Virgle’. On April 1st Google and Virgin announced that they were going to go to Mars in an apparent April Fools day joke.

On this blog we will keep you up to date on any news regarding the Virgle project.

The official page about the Virgle project can be found at Google.

Our sister Blog TheNextWeb.org wrote about the Virgle project too.
